Campaign Overview

This campaign is to provide 250 sets of "Lensen drawing kit" which is a drawing kit for children with visual impairment.

Lensen drawing kit is a special drawing kit for children with visual impairment. The basic idea of this drawing kit is originated from Arvind Gupta's toys from trash (http://www.arvindguptatoys.com) but we have taken it into the next level where it can become a proper tool in learning. The kit comprise of 2 pieces, a pen and a notebook.
Lensen pen is made from rubber wood with size (5 inches in height) and weight (240 grams) suitable for children' hands. The pen uses wool instead of ink and must be used with Lensen notebook. The tip of the pen is attached with a dental floss cutter for cutting the wool. The mechanism of installing and reinstalling the wool and cutting the wool with dental floss cutter has been tested to be user-friendly and safe for children with visual impairment.
Lensen notebook is a special notebook with new type of Velcro called "easy tape" on it. The wool will stick to Velcro and create a tactile line while drawing. The size of notebook is 12x14 inches.
The applications for Lensen drawing kit are as followed:
1. For drawing as an art. The wool comes in many color to add more fun for low-vision children.
2. For other subjects such as Geometry, Graph, Physics, etc. Basically it can be used in any subject that requires drawing to study.
Lensen drawing kit is co-developed by the Faculty of Education, Suan Dusit Rajabhat University who is an expert in education for children with disabilities. It has been field tested many time in schools for the blind.
We are looking for funding to help us manufacture and deliver the first 250 sets of Lensen drawing kits to every school for the blind in Thailand (11 schools with 1,500 children) One set costs $25 that includes one pen, one notebook, and two extra spools. If we can raise more than our goal, we will use that extra money to provide them more sets.
The production requires 2 months.
